Bryan Bagunas, Oita Miyoshi finally enter V.League win column

Bryan Bagunas put up another spectacular performance and at last, it did not go down the drain.

Oita Miyoshi picked up its first win of the season at the expense of VC Nagano in five nail-biting sets, 25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-10, in the 2020-21 Japan V.League Division 1 men’s tournament, Saturday at the Logitech Arena.

The Filipino import tallied 24 points on 22 attacks and two block kills. He remained deadeye as always with a 48.9 percent attack efficiency rate.

Curtis Stockton led the onslaught for Weisse Adler with 32 markers. Meanwhile, Kota Yamada stepped up big time with 19 points to himself as they finally breached the win column at 1-20.

The match stretched through a deciding fifth set partly because of Oita’s errors with 42, while VC Nagano only had 17.

Leading the Tridents was Rivan Nurmulki, the league’s fourth-best scorer, with 25 points scattered in 21 attacks, three blocks, and a service ace.

Backstopping Nurmulki was Takahiro Tozaki with 15 markers.

VC Nagano slid to 3-18.

Weisse Adler look to repeat against the Tridents tomorrow, 1 pm, at the same arena.
