MVP looks to give 3,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to PBA

The PBA expressed its deepest gratitude to business tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan for his pledge to donate doses of COVID-19 vaccines to the PBA.

Vice Chairman Bobby Rosales disclosed on Tuesday that the PLDT/SMART chairman has expressed interest in providing 3,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines for the 1,500 members of Asia’s pioneering pro league.

Pangilinan owns the three ball clubs under the MVP Group — TNT Tropang Giga, Meralco Bolts, and NLEX Road Warriors.

“We should let you know also that Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan, MVP, has expressed his willingness to donate 3,000 doses for 1,500 members of the PBA — the players and their dependents. I think this will be AstraZeneca,” he said.

“And for that, we are very grateful to MVP for really looking after the welfare of the players of the teams and their dependents. Any time that those vaccines arrive, this will be offered and given to the players and their dependents.”

Rosales said as much in a virtual press briefing held moments after the Board of Governors’ two-day planning session at the PBA office in Libis.

The Terrafirma governor was joined by newly-elected Chairman Ricky Vargas, Commissioner Willie Marcial, PBA 3×3 chair and Alaska governor Dickie Bachmann, and SBP president Al Panlilio, also the Bolts’ governor.

“At this point we would like to thank Chairman Ricky Vargas who made it possible and of course Gov. Al Panlilio,” Rosales said.
