Boomy explains decision to leave Omega, join TNC

After leading Omega Esports to the upper division of the DPC-SEA Season Two, Marvin “Boomy” Rushton and Jun “Bok” Kanehara decided to pack their bags and bolt to TNC as the squad reverted to an all-Filipino roster anew.

Speaking for the first time since his decision to transfer, former Omega Esports captain Boomy finally explained his controversial decision that sent shockwaves in the entire local Dota 2 scene.

The Southeast Asian Games gold medalist shared that reuniting with former Clutch Gamers teammates Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte and Armel “Armel” Tabios was one of the few factors of his decision.

“Isang sa factor doon is ‘yung mga players.

“Kasi si Gabbi saka si Armel, naging kakampi ko na dati, so tingin ko sa kanila malakas na players talaga. So parang isa ‘yun sa mga nag-ano talaga sa akin,” shared the 28-year-old support in the one-on-one interview presented by Predator Gaming.

But what really sealed the deal for the former Adroit captain is the chance to represent the most renowned Dota 2 organization not just in the country, but in the world.

And that, for him, was an opportunity too hard to pass up on.

“Tapos ‘yung management din, ‘yung organization mismo… Kasi feel ko talaga the best organization ‘yung TNC sa Pilipinas,” explained Boomy.

Though the team missed the ONE Esports Singapore Major, Boomy and Bok will be joining the battle-tested core of Gabbi, Armel, and Timothy “Tims” Randrup. The trio helped TNC top the ESL ONE Hamburg 2019, MDL Chengdu Major, ESL ONE Thailand 2020: Asia, and the BTS Pro Series Season 4: SEA.

Knowing his teammates’ caliber of play, Boomy looks to step up and help TNC regain lost glory.

“At first, nervous ako kasi may pangalan ‘yung mga kakampi ko, mataas na ‘yung na-achieve nila. Pero at the same time, motivated naman para mabigay ko ‘yung equal na tingin nila, para makapunta ako sa level nila at maganda ‘yung chemistry namin,” expressed Boomy.

“As of now, ‘di ko pa masabi kasi bago pa lang kami. ‘Di ko pa masabi kung anong mae-expect. Pero ibibigay namin lahat talaga, para maging number one pa rin yung TNC sa Pinas.”

TNC will get to test its new lineup on April 6 at the APAC Predator League 2020-21.
