Bagunas limited to just five as Oita dealt 30th loss in V.League

Oita Miyoshi was helpless against league-leading Suntory, bowing 17-25, 16-25, 20-25, in the 2020-21 Japan V.League Division 1 men’s tournament at the Ookini Arena Maishima in Osaka, Saturday.

Oita star Bryan Bagunas was held down to just five points.

The league’s eight-most efficient attacker struggled, going just 5-of-18 for 27.8 percent.

Australian import Curtis Stockton was the lone Weisse Adler in twin digits with 13 markers.

The decision gave Oita Miyoshi its 30th loss in 33 outings.

7-foot-2 giant Dmitriy Muserskiy led Suntory with 16 points scattered through 12 attacks, three service aces, and a block.

Masahiro Yanagida followed with 14 markers on three aces as the Sunbirds improved to 29-2.

The two will meet again tomorrow, 11 am, at the same venue in Osaka.
