Work Auster’s coach Leo vows to remain objective as MPL PH shoutcaster

Dan “Leo” Cubangay was the latest broadcast talent to take an active role in an MPL-Philippines team after signing with Work Auster Force as technical coach last Wednesday.

Eyebrows certainly went up right after the announcement. After all, simultaneously working for the league and one of its teams may not be the most ideal situation.

But in a lengthy Facebook post on Wednesday night, the radio DJ-turned-esports shoutcaster vowed that he will give his one-hundred percent in both jobs without compromising the other.

“I promise you this, when I am on camera during broadcast, I will do my best to be one hundred-percent fair and objective towards the entire league, the competition, and everyone involved,” promised Leo.

The Madrigal Project founder also shared that his recent move has already received the blessing of the league’s higher-ups. He said that certain arrangements have been put in place for his new role.

“The production team, Moonton, and all the stakeholders have been informed. Certain arrangements have been made to accommodate my special role as both a shoutcaster and coach/analyst. I will work hard to give my all in both roles, in the right way,” Leo said.

Though the news was surprising to some, there have been a number of broadcast talents who found themselves on the other side of the game.

MPL analysts Neil De Guzman and Caisam “Wolf” Nopueto have been in the same situation as Leo. The former worked as a part of the PLDT-Smart Omega coaching staff back in The Nationals Season One; meanwhile, the latter is currently with ONIC PH as its analyst.

Work Auster Force is currently at fourth place in Group A with a 1-1 standing.

Leo will be going up against his good friend Wolf when the league resume next week, as Work Auster Force faces ONIC PH on April 9, Friday.
