TNC keeps TI10 dreams alive, outlasts Boom to advance to Grand Finals


TNC kept its The International 10 dreams alive after taking down BOOM Esports to enter the Southeast Asia regional qualifiers grand finals, Saturday afternoon.

The all-Filipino squad will set up a best-of-five grand finals showdown with Fnatic — the team that dropped them to the lower bracket final.

A five-man wipe from TNC entering the 61-minute mark of Game Three at the top Dire jungle exhausted all five of BOOM Esports buyback.

BOOM Esports then went for one last fight through a Smoke of Deceit. Saieful “Fbz” Ilham (Mars) jumped on Armel “Armel” Tabios’ Puck to start the clash.

The Indonesians managed to take down Armel, Timothy “Tims” Randrup (Lion), and Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte (Luna). But it was still not enough, as the TNC big three bought themselves back to turn the clash around and wipe out BOOM Esports.

Armel led the attack with 18 kills and 22 assists against just three deaths. Meanwhile, Gabbi registered 13 kills, five deaths, and 26 assists in the 46-27 Game Three win.

On the other hand, Randy “Dreamocel” Sapoetra’s Phantom Lancer was the main man for BOOM Esports. He had nine kills, four deaths, and seven assists in the 63:01-minute match.

TNC opened Game One with guns blazing. It flat-out dominated the Indonesians through the Dragon Knight-Brewmaster combo of Gabbi and Jun “Bok” Kanehara, respectively.

Gabbi tallied seven kills and 17 assists against just one death/ Bok had a perfect 3-0-19 stat line in the 28-10 Game One win which lasted for just 45 minutes and 30 seconds.

BOOM Esports, though, bounced back in the ensuing match, leaning on Dreamocel (Terrorblade) and Rafli Fathur “Mikoto” Rahman (Invoker) to fend off the Filipinos and score the equalizer.

The BOOM Esports carry finished with 10 kills and 11 assists against just three deaths. Mikoto ended with nine kills and 15 assists against just two deaths in the 33-21 Game Two win 42 minutes and 50 seconds.

TNC will face regional rival Fnatic in the best-of-five TI10 Southeast Asia regional qualifiers grand finals later in the day.
