Panaga put on day-to-day after suffering ankle sprain

BACARRA, Ilocos Norte — Jeanette Panaga suffered a sprained right ankle in Creamline’s five-set, 20-25, 25-15, 25-27, 25-19, 15-13 thriller against Black Mamba-Army on Thursday at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center here.

Creamline assistant coach Sherwin Meneses confirmed the news moments after the win.

The 6-foot Panaga landed awkwardly following a block attempt during the 13-13 deadlock of the fifth set.

Celine Domingo then replaced Panaga, before Alyssa Valdez pulled the Cool Smashers at match-point.

A botched attack attempt from the Lady Troopers sealed Creamline’s third win in as many outing.

The former College of St. Benilde tower, who had to use a wheel chair to exit the venue, finished with nine points in the win.

“Fine naman, walang problema kasi same lang naman ang training ng lahat ng middle namin so hindi naman kami sobrang maga-adjust. Ayun nga, deep bench kami,” said Meneses.

“Pero siyempre hopefully maka-recover siya agad.”

If Panaga will be ruled out for the next game, it will be a huge loss for the side of Creamline. They will face the Jaja Santiago-led Cherry Tiggo on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
