Chery Tiggo gets back at Choco Mucho, sends PVL semis series to limit


BACARRA, ILOCOS NORTE — Chery Tiggo returned the favor, blasting Choco Mucho in three sets, 25-18, 25-22, 26-24 to force a Game Three in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference semifinals here at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center on Monday.

After surrendering a three-point lead late in the third set, but Jaja Santiago managed to score off a quick to place Chery Tiggo at match-point, 24-23.

Kat Tolentino kept the Flying Titans alive before Santiago answered right back for the lead.

Santiago then converted on an ace for the 26-24 third set win that completed the sweep.

“Again, Choco Mucho gave us a good fight you can see they’re very aggressive also I just want to emphasize the ladies just need to be confident and they poured their hearts out for this match,” said Chery Tiggo head coach Aaron Velez.

Dindin Santiago-Manabat posted a game-best 19 points built on 16 attacks and three aces while Santiago, who scored Chery Tiggo’s last three points in the third set, ended up with 13 points.

Mylene Paat chipped in 10 points and 18 excellent digs while Shaya Adorador had nine markers 13 excellent receptions.

Jasmine Nabor glued things together with 26 excellent sets and six points.

On the other hand, Kat Tolentino was the lone bright spot for Choco Mucho with 14 points.

Maddie Madayag had seven markers while Denden Lazaro-Revilla collected 12 digs and nine receptions.

The Flying Titans took a convincing 25-18, 25-22, 25-21 win in Game One to draw first blood in the series.

Chery Tiggo and Choco Mucho will battle for the coveted finals berth in the first-ever professional volleyball league in the country tomorrow, Tuesday.

“We just have to work harder and I think whoever is hungrier whose more aggressive and who has that will to win I think might have that advantage,” said Velez.

“We just have to remain focused and take up from where we left off and continue fighting,” he added.

If Creamline wins the series against Petro Gazz later in the day, the Chery Tiggo-Choco Mucho match will start at 3:00 PM.

But if the Angels managed to extend the series, the bout will start at 5:00 PM.
