Buding Duremdes gets added strength vs Creamline from friends, family

BACARRA, ILOCOS NORTE – Coming off a frustrating loss in the series opener, Chery Tiggo libero Buding Duremdes rose to the occasion in Game Two of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on Thursday night.

According to the 23-year-old defensive ace, she received a lot of encouraging messages from her family, her squad, and her former teammates in Petron.2021-PVL-Open-Creamline-vs.-Chery-Tiggo-Finals-G2-Jaja-Santiago-6483 Buding Duremdes gets added strength vs Creamline from friends, family News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Thankful ako sa mga nagmemessage sa aking ganyan.

“Yung family ko, teammates ko sa Chery Tiggo, saka yung former teammates ko sa Petron,” shared Duremdes, a 5-foot-2 native of Dumangas, Iloilo.

That seemed to have fired up the FEU product as she racked up a total of 16 excellent digs and 16 excellent receptions to help the Crossovers withstand Creamline’s wide arsenal of attackers which resulted to a 25-17, 17-25, 25-16, 25-21 Game Two victory.

Duremdes was coming off a 14-dig, 23-reception outing in Game One that saw Chery Tiggo bow to Creamline in five sets.

“Siyempre kailangan ako ng team, kailangan ko dumepensa, kailangan ko rumeceive tapos thankful ako sa lahat ng nagmemessage na gawin mo kung ano ka. Tsaka kung ano yung mga nalalaman mo, lahat i-all out mo na,” Duremdes said.

“Kasi siyempre aaminin natin sobrang lakas talaga nila, sobrang lakas din yung palo nila. Siyempre kailangan ko lang gawin yung role ko inside the court, dumepensa at saka rumeceive.”

Chery Tiggo head coach Aaron Velez praised Duremdes’ efforts after the match. And he’s just grateful that Duremdes, along with the entire squad, remained committed to their goal of winning the championship.2021-PVL-Open-Creamline-vs.-Chery-Tiggo-Finals-G2-Aaron-Vele-6237 Buding Duremdes gets added strength vs Creamline from friends, family News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“I’m just so grateful for the players’ commitment. Whatever adjustments we were doing, they were up for it,” said Velez.

“I’m just really thankful that the players gave their all and I hope that we are going to continue this.”
