Kalei Mau to join PWNVT in Thailand

Fresh off her campaign with Puerto Rican club Changos de Naranjito, Kalei Mau committed to the Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team that will play in the 2021 AVC Women’s Club Championships next month.

Mau, 26, went to social media to bare her plans for the next month, saying that she will be returning to Kahaluu, Hawaii first.

“I can’t wait to see my friends and be on my island home. Let’s go! I’m going home for a month then go to training,” she said.

From there, Mau will fly directly to Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand in the last week of September to join the national team.

The Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship will take place from October 1-7.

“Then going to Thailand to play for the national team of the Philippines,” the 6-foot-2 outside hitter continued.

“Let’s go! Sambansa!”

Mau, who was cleared by the FIVB to join the Philippine team last June, was named to the national team’s 24-woman pool back on August 27.

Also part of the squad are fellow F2 Logistics teammates Majoy Baron, Kim Dy, Dawn Macandili, Aby Marano, and Tin Tiamzon.

Other veterans in the squad are pro players Rhea Dimaculangan, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Ria Meneses, Mylene Paat, Jema Galanza, MJ Phillips, Deanna Wong, Kat Tolentino, Dell Palomata, and Iris Tolenada.

Completing the squad are young guns Imee Hernandez, Ivy Lacsina, Kamille Cal, Mhicaela Belen, Eya Laure, Jennifer Nierva, Faith Nisperos, and Bernadette Pepito.
