NorthPort returns as Alaska, Meralco not in PBA Week 2 sched

NorthPort finally returns to action as the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup resumes this week at the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

Out in the first week of the season resumption after being placed under health and safety protocols, the Batang Pier will have their work cut out for them as they will play three games in five days, per the league’s schedule for Sept. 8-12.

The team battles the 0-7 Blackwater on Thursday at 4:35 p.m., before playing Terrafirma and NLEX for back-to-back outings over the weekend.

NorthPort will meet the Dyip on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., and then takes on the Road Warriors on Sunday at 7:00 p.m.

The Batang Pier has only won once in the four games it played when games were still played in Pasig, a 115-79 thrashing of Phoenix last July 22.

But while the league welcomes NorthPort back into the fold, both Meralco and Alaska will have to wait for awhile as the two are out of Week Two.

It could be remembered that the teams’ respective games were postponed last week in accordance with the league’s health and safety protocols,

The Aces were supposed to face San Miguel last Saturday. The Bolts, meanwhile, were set to battle rivals Barangay Ginebra the following day.

The Beermen and the Gin Kings, though, will have a busy week ahead and are even set to play each other on Friday at 6:00 p.m. in a titanic clash.
