Rebisco dropped to AVC Club placement matches by Nakhon

Rebisco found themselves overpowered by home club Nakhon Ratchasima QminC, 11-25, 19-25, 18-25, to drop to the placement matches of the 2021 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship, Monday at Terminal 21 Hall in Thailand.

Coming off a 31-point outing in their five-set win against Zhetysu yesterday, Moksri Chatchu-on followed it up with another impressive performance of 10 points.

But it was Chatsuda Nilapa and Kuttika Kaewpin who did most of the damage with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Thai-German Karina Krause also netted nine points, off running attacks.

Ivy Lacsina, after very limited minutes the past two games, made her presence felt this time. She unloaded powerful quick kills and solid defense at the net for Rebisco, getting a team-high nine points.

Faith Nisperos had six points while Aby Maraño and Dindin Santiago-Manabat delivered four apiece.

The Thais pulled away from a close 16-14 contest via six unanswered points. Then they ultimately bagged the third salvo, 25-18.

Leading by just two, Nakhon Ratchasima went on a 14-5 rally to go ahead by 11, 19-8.

But Rebisco answered back with an 11-5 counter to cut the deficit to five, 19-24, but it was too little, too late. Hathairat Jarat’s quick kill gave Nakhon the 2-0 set lead.

Still within striking distance, 7-11, the Filipino squad went on a huge drought. That allowed the Thais to unleash a 14-4 bomb to draw first blood, 25-11.

Rebisco will face the loser of the Choco Mucho-Supreme Chonburi quarterfinals matchup for the battle for sixth place on Wednesday at 1:30 PM.
