V.League: Bagunas’ 21 goes for naught vs Nagoya as Oita suffers second straight loss

Nagoya overpowered Oita Miyoshi, 25-21, 16-25, 25-22, 25-20, in the 2021-22 Japan V.League Division 1 men’s tournament, Saturday at the Toyoda Gosei Memorial Gymnasium Entrio.

Bryan Bagunas carried the fight for Weisse Adler with 21 points on 19 attacks and two blocks. He was also efficient in his spiking, going 19-of-32, good for 59.4 percent.

After giving up the first frame, Oita was able to get one back with a dominant second set, 25-16.

However, they could not sustain their momentum, eventually falling short in the next two periods.

Polish import Bartosz Kurek led the Wolfdogs with 19 points while Yamazaki Akito added 15.

Kenta Takanashi also had 14 points, including two block kills as Nagoya improved to 2-1.

Kenta Koga went for 23 points for the 1-2 Oita Miyoshi. Venezuelan import Emerson Rodriguez only played in three sets sparingly, making one point.

Weisse Adler will try to put a stop on their two-game slide tomorrow as they face the Wolfdogs anew at 12:00 NN at the same venue.
