Bagunas stifled by Toray as Oita absorbs fifth straight loss in V.League

Bryan Bagunas was stifled while his Oita Miyoshi extended their losing skid to five games, Sunday afternoon.

The Weisse Adler gave up a 17-25, 18-25, 25-22, 16-25 decision to Toray in the 2021-22 Japan V.League Division 1 men’s tournament, held at the Miyazaki Prefectural Gymnasium.

The 6-foot-5 outside spiker saw himself limited to just eight points with a service ace. He had 20 attack attempts, converting seven of them.

Hungarian import Krisztián Pádár continued to dominate with his sharp service aces with six. He also tallied three block kills and 14 attacks for a strong 23-point performance for the Arrows.

Six-foot-eight Kentaro Takahashi just controlled the net willfully with nine blocks. He also had nine attacks and two aces for 21 points for the victors.

Haku Ri also had three blocks to go with 10 spikes for 13 points for the 4-2 Toray.

Venezuelan Emerson Rodriguez led Oita Miyoshi with 14 points on nine spikes, three aces, and a block, while Kenta Koga added 11.

Bagunas and his 1-5 Weisse Adler will face Marck Espejo and his 0-6 FC Tokyo on Friday, 6:00 PM, at Showa Denko Dome in Oita. This marks the first time the two Filipinos face off in the league.
