JTEKT gets back at Bagunas, Oita Miyoshi in V.League

After a nail-biting five-setter loss to Oita Miyoshi yesterday, JTEKT responded in a sweeping fashion.

The Stings dominated Weisse Adler in straight sets, 25-18, 28-26, 25-18, Sunday in the 2021-22 Japan V.League Division 1 men’s tournament at the CNA Arena Akita.

Bryan Bagunas ended the game with 12 points, going 48 percent in his attacks as he failed to tally a block or a service ace.

Weisse Adler were able to force an extended second set, however, they ran out of gas in the end, 26-28.

And the Stings did not allow another extended frame, pulling away in the third early en route to a 25-18 strong period for the win.

JTEKT rose to 6-4 for sixth place while Oita Miyoshi slid to 2-8, still at the ninth seed.

Felipe Fonteles was on the forefront of JTEKT’s attack anew, delivering 16 points on 12 hits, two blocks, and two service aces.

Kento Miyaura, 22, added 13 points, going 6-of-7 from the back row.

Go Murayama alone outscored the whole Oita club in the blocking department, 4-3, and finished with nine points.

Emerson Rodriguez paced the Weisse Adler with 16 points while no local player reached double digits.

Bagunas and his Weisse Adler return home on Saturday against JT Hiroshima at 1 pm at the Showa Denko Dome.
