VTL: Paat checked as Nakhon Ratchasima streak stopped by Supreme Chonburi

Nakhon Ratchasima QminC saw its two-game winning streak halted by the undefeated Supreme Chonburi E-tech, 25-19, 27-29, 14-25, 23-25, in the 2021-22 Volleyball Thailand League at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok, Wednesday.

Mylene Paat started the first three sets, but was not fielded in the fourth until the latter stages. She found herself limited from her usual output during the season with just 10 points.

Nakhon Ratchasima started the game on the right foot. Knotted at 16, Paat kickstarted an 8-2 blast with a crosscourt kill to take the early 1-0 lead, 25-19.

However, the 5-0 Supreme Chonburi – led by Soraya Phomla, Kannika Thipachot, and Pleumjit Thinkaow – had too much composure and steadiness.

Tied at 27, Pimtawan Thongyos drilled a down-the-line hit before the Chery Tiggo star committed an attack line fault to give Supreme Chonburi the second salvo, 29-27, for the equalizer.

Ahead by just a point, Supreme Chonburi unleashed a 10-3 blast to pull away and take a 2-1 set lead, 25-14.

With Supreme Chonburi at match point, 24-21, Karina Krause and Patcharaporn Sittisad buried back-to-back points to bring Nakhon Ratchasima to within one, but a Sutadta Chuewulim off-the-block kill finished the game.

Thipachot delivered a game-high 24 points, half of it made in the final period. Sutadta Chuewalim backstopped her with 16 points while Thinkaow added 15.

Sittisad spearheaded Nakhon Ratchasima’s offense with 20 points, while middle blockers Karina Krause and Chitaporn Kamlangmak combined for 22 points including four blocks.

Nakhon Ratchasima will aim to even their 2-3 win-loss slate on Sunday. They battle Kasetsart at 2:45 pm at the same venue.
