Choco Mucho signs Ogunsanya, Ponce

Choco Mucho is setting up a formidable team come the 2022 Premier Volleyball League season.

The Flying Titans will announce the signing of middle blocker Aduke Ogunsanya and libero Thang Ponce.

Choco Mucho made the reveal on Friday evening.

Many see Ogunsaya’s signing as a surprise move for her.

Since 2017, the 5-foot-9 Ilongga has been under Ramil de Jesus, playing for F2 Logistics in 2017 and 2021 and in La Salle from UAAP Seasons 79-82.

Ogunsanya last played for the Cargo Movers during the 2021 PNVF Champions League.

She was supposed to be La Salle’s captain in Season 82 but the tournament was stopped due to the ongoing pandemic.

This would mean that Ogunsanya, who won crowns with the Lady Spikers in Seasons 79 and 80, will no longer return to La Salle come UAAP Season 83 as she will have to turn pro to play in the PVL. She was able to keep her eligibility despite joining F2 Logistics in the PNVFCL since it is a federation-organized event.

Ogunsanya now gets to step out of the shadows of Majoy Baron and Aby Marano. She will fill the shoes of the recovering Maddie Madayag this year.

Ponce, meanwhile, finally gets to play for a Rebisco team.

The 5-foot-2 defensive specialist out of Bataan was supposed to be part of Creamline back in the 2020 season of the PVL before it was cancelled.

She would then sign with Perlas for the 2021 Open Conference.

Perlas though had to take a leave of absence for this season due to the ongoing pandemic.

Also part of Choco Mucho’s haul are Jem Ferrer, Cherry Nunag, and Isa Molde.
