Joshua Munzon all set for Terrafirma return

Much needed help has arrived for Terrafirma.

The Dyip have finally welcomed Joshua Munzon back as the 2021 top pick is now in town after being in the States for months to recover from a hand injury.

“Nandito na siya noong January 8 pa,” head coach Johnedel Cardel confirmed in a short message to Tiebreaker Times, Saturday.

The Fil-Am gunner got hurt early in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup last July, eventually flying home to California to focus on his healing.

He was expected to return for the Governors’ Cup — which opened last December — but had to sort out some family matters first.

The former ABL import has only played for three games thus far, with averages of 11.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.3 steals.

Cardel had previously said that Munzon’s presence is badly needed by Terrafirma, which is in the midst of a three-game skid due to injury woes.

The Dyip’s guard rotation suffered a tough blow as champion playmaker Alex Cabagnot is out for several months because of an Achilles tear.

With his comeback, Munzon will surely be of help to a team that’s been heavily relying on Juami Tiongson and import Antonio Hester.

His return to the hardwood, though, may have to wait for a while. The season-ending conference has been on pause due to the coronavirus situation.

Terrafirma was set to play Alaska last January 8, but the PBA paused play shortly after the New Year as the capital got placed under Alert Level 3.

All PBA games are streamed live on GigaPlay. Download it now on Android or IOS.

The second game of each playdate is also livestreamed on SMART Sports.
