V.League: Panasonic gets back at Bagunas, Oita Miyoshi

Panasonic returned with a vengeance, topping Oita Miyoshi, 25-18, 25-21, 25-13, in the 2021-22 V.League Division 1 men’s tournament, Sunday at the Panasonic Arena.

Bryan Bagunas saw his touches in the losing cause limited to just 19 spiking attempts. He converted eight of them to go with a block and an ace for 10 points.

Despite still missing Michał Kubiak and Issei Otake also not suiting up, the Panthers have figured how to beat the Weisse Adler.

Leading the charge for Panasonic was Kunihiro Shimizu with 15 points from 13 spikes, a block, and a service ace.

Tatsunori Otsuka also registered 12 points of his own as the Panthers rose to 11-7 still at fourth.

Emerson Rodriguez was also held to just 12 points for Oita Miyoshi. On the other hand, Kota Yamada got just seven points.

The Weisse Adler saw their short-lived two-game winning streak snapped, falling to 4-14.

Oita will look to stage an upset when it meets the second-ranked Sakai on Saturday, 3:00 PM, at the Kurume Arena in Fukuoka.
