Phoenix Super LPG taps Dominique Sutton as import

Phoenix Super LPG is set to parade another ‘balik-import’ when it resumes its 2021-22 PBA Governors’ Cup campaign over the weekend.

The Fuel Masters are bringing in Dominique Sutton as the ball club continues to wait for Paul Harris to fully recover from a hamstring injury.

He is expected to suit up in the team’s match versus Aaron Fuller and TNT on Sunday at 4:00 p.m., according to team manager Paolo Bugia.

“It will be Sutton, yes,” he wrote in a text message to Tiebreaker Times.

Sutton, 35, first played in the PBA back in 2014 for Air21 before returning to the league a couple of years later to reinforce GlobalPort.

Playing professionally since 2012, the American forward is coming off a stint with Al-Ahli Manama of the Bahraini Premier League.

He will now be Phoenix’s second import for the season-ending conference as Harris’ recovery is taking ‘longer than expected,’ said Bugia.

“Unfortunately lang talaga Harris’ recovery took longer than expected. So we had to make a decision kasi nag-bigay na restart date ang PBA,” he said.

The Fuel Masters have gone 3-2 with Harris around, including their 102-93 victory over the erstwhile-unbeaten NLEX on Christmas Day.

It was the last time that the 35-year-old forward saw action. He was already being bothered by hamstring issues early in the said match.

His situation has prompted Phoenix to look out for a contingency plan, which brought them to tap the services of Donald Tankoua.ncaa-95-sbu-def-csb-donald-tankoua Phoenix Super LPG taps Dominique Sutton as import Basketball News PBA - philippine sports news

Even with Sutton’s arrival, though, the former San Beda foreign student-athlete is still with the team for stand-in purposes.
