VTL: Paat limited as Santiago-Manabat, Nakhon fall to Supreme

Supreme Chonburi easily disposed of Nakhon Ratchasima, 11-25, 21-25, 17-25, to sweep the 2021-22 Volleyball Thailand League eliminations, Sunday at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.

Bannered by Mylene Paat and Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Nakhon Ratchasima will enter the Final Four as the third seed, ending with a 6-6 win-loss card.

Manabat played the whole game, being Nakhon Ratchasima’s best offensive weapon and only player in double digits, with 15 points.

Paat got benched in the second and third sets, finishing with just two points.

Meanwhile, Supreme Chonburi was led anew by the 38-year-old veteran Pleumjit Thinkaow with 13 points including four blocks, proving how age is just a number.

Kannika Thipachot topscored with 14 points while Sutadta Chuewulim got 10 points.

Malika Kanthong and Watchareeya Nuanjam also added seven points apiece for Supreme Chonburi.

Backing up Manabat were middle blockers Karina Krause and Chitaporn Kamlangmak with six points each.

In their first round matchup last January 12, Nakhon Ratchasima was able to snag a set despite losing, however, this time Supreme Chonburi was focused from start to finish.

Nakhon Ratchasima will battle it out in the Final Four with the 12-0 Supreme Chonburi, second seed Diamond Food, and fourth-ranked Khonkaen Star.

The Filipinas’ squad doesn’t have the numbers, going 0-of-6 in their regular round encounters against the teams they’ll face in the playoffs.
