Espejo, Tokyo FC games vs Hiroshima cancelled due to protocols

Marck Espejo and FC Tokyo need to wait another week before a possible return to the V.League.

This as the team announced Monday that it has cancelled its games against JT Thunders this weekend due to COVID-19.

The eighth-ranked squad made the hard decision to cancel the matches. Multiple individuals from the FC Tokyo camp had tested positive.

“We have discussed with the V.League organization and JT Thunders Hiroshima in response to the occurrence of multiple positive testers for COVID-19 among the players and staff of FC Tokyo,” the statement read.

“From the viewpoint of preventing the spread of infection, we have decided to (cancel our games against JT Thunders this weekend).”

FC Tokyo’s past two games against Wolfdogs Nagoya were also cancelled for the same reason.

Barring any other cancellations, FC Tokyo will face Sakai on March 5, 12:00 PM (Manila time) at the Nippon Steel Sakai Gymnasium.

Espejo’s team sits at 8-16, just behind the 10-16 Hiroshima for the seventh spot.

The league has already extended the regular season. It moved its last day from March 27 to April 3 to give space for the rescheduling of the cancelled games.
