V.League: Jaja Santiago solid as Saitama within reach of top three

Jaja Santiago and Saitama’s run to the top three continued, blasting Himeji 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17, in the 2021-22 V.League Division 1 women’s tournament at the Wink Gymnasium, Saturday.

The 6-foot-5 middle blocker was solid at the net anew with three blocks to go with eight attacks to finish with 11 points in Ageo Medics’ third win in as many games.

Brazilian import Lorenne Teixeira and Mami Uchiseto each chipped in 19 points apiece as well in the victory.

Meanwhile, Yuka Sato and Kyoko Aoyagi completed the double-digit scorers for Saitama with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The Ageo Medics improved to 14-8 at fifth place, just two games behind third running NEC at 16-6 with 11 games left. The two will still meet twice in the regular round.

Saki Tanaka had 14 points, all from attacks, in the loss for Himeji.

Thai Celeste Plak and Riho Sadakane finished with 11 points apiece as Victorina sank to 5-19

Saitama looks to make it four in a row when it battles Kurobe tomorrow at 2 pm at the same stadium.
