Anthony Semerad to return from injury vs Alaska

One of the miracles Yeng Guiao hopes for is happening.

Tony Semerad is bound to see action soon after being reactivated by NLEX days before the 2022 PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals.

The 3-and-D specialist has been sidelined since suffering a strained calf during the Road Warriors’ 110-110 defeat to Meralco last February 11.

He was brought back into the active roster in lieu of rookie winger Calvin Oftana, who has been relegated to the team’s injured/reserve list.

Coincidentally, Oftana was also hurt in the Bolts game, sustaining a fractured ring finger that has likely ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Losing the two San Beda products appeared to be bad news for NLEX, but the team still managed to pull through and clinch the second seed.

Armed with a twice-to-beat advantage, the Road Warriors will take on the no. 7 Alaska on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. to open the quarters.

They have the Aces’ number this conference, conquering them by way of a 106-89 victory last February 23 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Aside from activating Semerad, the MVP Group-owned ball club has also formalized its import switch by signing Cameron Clark.

The 30-year-old will have big shoes to fill as he’s taking the place of KJ McDaniels, the reason why the team equaled its best finish in franchise history.

With the former NBA cager, NLEX ended the eliminations with an 8-3 card, highlighted by their big win over reigning champs Ginebra last March 4.
