Over the past six years, F2 Logistics has gained maximum respect from its opponents.
Just entering the arena, the Cargo Movers possess an aura that would intimidate even the toughest of teams.
But Cignal head coach Shaq Delos Santos made sure to remind the HD Spikers that it is a new season meaning that everyone is on equal footing.
“Sabi nga ni coach, bagong taon kaya pantay-pantay pa kaming lahat,” said reigning Premier Volleyball League Best Middle Blocker Ria Meneses.
“Every game, ang mindset namin is to treat each game as a championship talaga. So talagang point-by-point.”
Definitely, Cignal made sure to get the headstart against F2 Logistics on Sunday.
After taking a dominant first set, 25-14, the HD Spikers followed it up with a 25-21 second set to go up 2-0.
F2 Logistics though got the ball rolling in the third set. In the following set, Cignal also suffered a setback as Ces Molina rolled her right ankle.
Still, Cignal persevered, taking the fourth set 25-18 to take the share of leadership in Pool A.
“Siyempre sobrang proud kasi knowing yung preparation namin, pinaghandaan namin ng mabuti,” said Delos Santos. “Happy ako na nag-perform yung mga players namin.”
“Siyempre, nakakataba ng puso kasi F2 yan e,” added Meneses, who had 12 points in the contest.
“Ang F2 naman talagang malalaki sila at macha-challenge kaming lahat na pumapalo pero siyempre, volleyball yan at pare-parehas lang kami ng tine-train.”
Meneses though stresses that Cignal has not yet accomplished anything despite taking down defending champion Chery Tiggo and PNVF champion F2 Logistics.
After all, it’s the PVL crown that is what they are gunning for.
“Lahat naman kami gustong manalo. Kung sino lang talaga nagtrabaho, siya yung makakakuha ng panalo.”
