Rose Doria repays Shaq Delos Santos’ trust with block party vs Choco Mucho

After struggling in Cignal’s first two matches, Roselyn Doria finally got her groove in the HD Spikers’ massive win against the Choco Mucho Flying Titans on Tuesday night.

The 25-year-old middle blocker hosted a block party against the Flying Titans, registering eight of Cignal’s 16 blocks to finish with a tournament-high 17 points in the 20-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-16 win that helped the HD Spikers clinch the first twice-to-beat incentive in Pool A.

“Sobrang satisfied pero hindi pa rin kami mag-stop, continue to learn and training pa rin,” said the 5-foot-11 National University product.

Cignal head coach Shaq Delos Santos revealed that Doria, who only scored 12 points in the HD Spikers’ last two games, really worked hard to break out of her slump and contribute in the team’s campaign.

That is why he is very proud to see finally see Doria reap the fruit of her hard work.

“Yun nga yung two games namin alam ko hindi siya satisfied dun sa naging performance niya kaya sabi ko nga nakakatuwa, nakaka-proud kasi grabe yung nilaro niya ngayon so hopefully mag tuloy tuloy talaga,” said the former national team coach.

“Sobrang nakakaproud. Sobrang happy kami, siyempre sa practice napakasipag niyan, all out talaga,” he added.

On the other hand, the pride of Mangaldan, Pangasinan is just glad to have a supportive coach in Delos Santos on her side.

She also revealed that Delos Santos really helped her a lot during the team’s training sessions prior to the match which ultimately resulted in her stellar outing.

“After nung game nag chat talaga ako sa kanya, nag sorry kasi ‘di ko gusto yung nilaro ko nung first two games,” shared Doria.

“Nagsorry ako tapos nag-sabi lang siya na kayang kaya ko bumawi and inoverload talaga ako ni Coach Shaq [Delos Santos] kaya thankful po ako sa kanya. Lumabas lang talaga kung ano yung pinaghihirapan namin, kung ano yung tinatrabaho namin sa training,” she continued.

With the win against the Rebisco-backed squad, the HD Spikers claimed the top spot in Pool A with an immaculate 3-0 standing.

The team will face Black Mamba-Army on Thursday at 3:00 PM.
