Jerom Lastimosa cites endgame D as reason for Adamson woes

Another day, another heartbreaking loss for Adamson.

The Soaring Falcons absorbed their fifth straight defeat after getting edged out by De La Salle University on a 61-58 decision on Saturday afternoon.

Unlike in previous games, Jerom Lastimosa didn’t get to shoot the last shot. Instead, he elected to pass the ball to Keith Zaldivar, who attempted from beyond the arc. However, Justine Baltazar was there to block the potential game-tying shot.

That play secured the nail-biting victory for the Green Archers.

Lastimosa admitted that they are still in the process of maturing and learning how to properly execute, especially in late-game situations.

“Siguro nag-relax kami sa depensa namin and it twice happened ‘nung last two games, ganun din ‘yung laro namin eh.

“So parang di pa talaga na-hahandle ‘yung mga ganung sitwasyon. But we’re still learning naman sa ganung crucial games,” lamented Lastimosa, who had 15 points to go with seven assists, three rebounds, a steal, and a block in close to 31 minutes of action.

With their most recent loss, the Soaring Falcons are closing the first round with a 1-6 record.

Still, Adamson head coach Nash Racela chooses to look at the bright side of things as his team aims to improve and play better in the second round.

“You go back to those close games, apat na, we could’ve been 5-2. If you look at it that way, that should give us motivation going to the second round so I think it’s as simple as that,” the UAAP Season 78 champion coach shared.

“It’s nice that we put ourselves in a good position to win in the end. It’s just a matter of really grabbing the victory. Lagi kong sinasabi sa kanila na the opponent will not give it to us, we have to learn how to take wins. We’re hoping that, of course, going to the second round it will be different.”
