Marcial to summon Tolentino, Jose due to altercation

Arvin Tolentino and Raymar Jose will be summoned by the PBA Commissioner’s Office for their altercation late in the 2021-22 Governors’ Cup Finals opener.

The league is now reviewing that particular incident, which marred Meralco’s 104-91 victory over Ginebra to gain a head start in the best-of-seven series.

Commissioner Willie Marcial said that he will talk to both players prior to Game Two on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

“Kakausapin ko bukas before the game,” he told Tiebreaker Times.

The two became the center of online talk Wednesday night. They got heated with about seven seconds left, with the game everything but settled.

Both the former FEU Tamaraws got physical with one another. Jose tried to back down Tolentino in an attempt to protect the ball and waste the time.

The Ginebra sophomore didn’t back off and bodied the Cebuano, leading to a foul. And the latter clearly did not take too kindly of it.

Jose went on to confront Tolentino, with the two eventually separated. It even went as far as challenging one another to bring it outside the venue.

The talking reportedly didn’t stop all the way to the parking lot.

While Tolentino downplayed the incident, Bolts head coach Norman Black said that it would only add more color to Friday’s match set at 6:00 PM.

It is yet to be seen if the two will be slapped with fines.
