Shaun Ildefonso submits PBA Draft application

Shaun Ildefonso is one step closer to achieving his pro dreams.

The 6-foot-2 bruising winger has submitted his draft application form to the Philippine Basketball Association’s office in Libis, Pasig on Saturday.

And for the National University product, making it to the big league was his childhood dream.

“I’m excited. When I was a kid, I always watched my dad [Danny Ildefonso] sa Ultra,” Ildefonso told Tiebreaker Times. “Siyempre, since I was playing, I’ve always wanted to play in the PBA.”

In his final year with the Bulldogs, Ildefonso played all 14 games – starting 11 games, norming 6.14 points, 2.86 rebounds, and 1.36 assists.

Shaun knows that he is not as tall as his 6-foot-6 dad Danny – who is also a two-time PBA Most Valuable Player – nor as talented as his younger brother Dave. But what he brings to the team is his work ethic.

“I’m not as talented as Dave or as tall as my father, but I know my strengths and my weaknesses. I know what I need to work on in my next journey.

“Hard work has always been a part of my mantra. I’m not the tallest nor the most skilled, but I’ll fight for the team that drafts me. Ganun ako pinalaki eh,” the 24-year-old said.

Also submitting his draft application on Saturday is NU floor general Enzo Joson.

Joson, a 5-foot-8 guard, still had a year of eligibility left. He averaged 4.9 points, 2.3 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in Season 84.

The PBA Draft will take place on May 15 at Robinson’s Malate.
