Douanga glad to be back after tending to family matters in Congo

Adamson University head coach Nash Racela looks forward to what his team can give in its upcoming games in the 2022 FilOil EcoOil Preseason Cup now that his lineup is complete.

It has been a challenging campaign for Adamson this preseason but they managed to fight with their incomplete roster in the recent games. However, it will be a different week for the Soaring Falcons as the likes of Lenda Douanga and AP Manlapaz have returned while new addition Flever Dignadice is set to debut.

Racela is looking at what the players can contribute through the games.

“Di namin alam eh, that’s why… we look at what they could give dun sa program or dun sa team through games like these, dito lang [FilOil],” said the 50-year-old head tactician after his team’s 63-70 loss to University of the East.

“Sayang may dalawa kaming tournaments na di rin sila nakalaro, so ngayon lang sila naging healthy; so ngayon lang din nabibigyan ng chance.

“It’s hard to force minutes dun sa mga players, especially those did not play for a longer time. So, yun ito lang, itong week na ‘to we’re bringing in guys from [Didat] Hanapi, si Manlapaz, si Lenda, si Dignadice, si [Joaquin] Jaymalin, so ngayon lang ulit sila nagbabalikan to play,” he continued.

Douanga was not seen during the first five games of Adamson in the preseason cup, as well as the UCBL Preseason tournament due to family problems. But now he revealed that he’s back to help the team.

“I have a problem in my family. My mom was sick; that’s why I was [away] just doing something about my mom. Then my mom is okay now. Now I’m back to help [the team],” the 6-foot-10 Congolese center shared.

“I want to help my team; I’m just helping my team.”

Racela also revealed that there will be no additions to their roster as they are already in full force in the Preseason Cup.

“Wala na, yan na rin ‘yung pool na meron kami those that are playing in FilOil,” he concluded.
