Ced Domingo admits she did not expect winning Finals MVP

As confetti rained down the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday night, Ced Domingo quickly went to the floor to make sure that she had enough on her hands in time for the awarding of the individual awards.

Creamline just won its second consecutive Premier Volleyball League championship against KingWhale — all in all, Domingo already won three titles with the Cool Smashers which is why she already knew the drill.

The 5-foot-10 spiker showered the confetti to both Alyssa Valdez and Tots Carlos once they were named the Best Outside Spiker and the Most Valuable Player, respectively.

Knowing that the Finals MVP will be awarded last, Domingo saved just enough for the announcement.PVL-2022-Invitational-Creamline-vs.-Kingwhale-Finals-Celine-Domingo-5332 Ced Domingo admits she did not expect winning Finals MVP News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

Then, just a couple of seconds later, she was on cloud nine.

Domingo, who poured 11 points built on five attacks, four kill blocks, and two aces in the 25-21, 25-19, 25-8 win against the Taiwanese club, was named the Finals MVP.

“Wala po, wala po talaga as in blank,” said the 23-year-old product of Far Eastern University, still in awe of what transpired.

“Actually, meron pa akong confetti sa kamay ko kasi ready akong sabuyan kung sino ‘man yung maging (finals) MVP so wala po talaga.”

Domingo said that she just stuck with her role all throughout the final game and gave her very best to help her side win the title.

Moreover, she’s just glad to get the recognition that even she herself did not expect.

“Actually, I really did may part lang talaga. Kung ano ‘man yung kaya kong i-contribute sa team, talagang nag (inayos ko yung) mindset ko and cinompose ko yung sarili ko na every rally, every point talagang kung meron akong matutulong talagang gagawin ko.”
