Jordan Clarkson has one goal in Gilas return: ‘Just win’

After four years, Jordan Clarkson is back in the Philippines.

And just like in 2018, the 6-foot-4 Filipino-American dynamo will represent the country once more as he will join Gilas Pilipinas in the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers’ fourth window.

Jordan, along with dad Mike, arrived in the country on Friday evening.

In an ambush interview by News5’s Martie Bautista, the Utah Jazz guard is just glad to be back home.

“Awesome, awesome,” he said after a long flight from California to Manila that was marred by a delay.

The last time Jordan represented the Philippines was back in the Asian Games, norming 26.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists to lead the country to a fifth-place finish.

Jordan will be playing two games for Gilas, taking on Lebanon in Beirut on the 25th before making his home debut on the 29th against Saudi Arabia.

Officials from the Samahang Basketbol ng Piliipinas welcomed Jordan at the airport.

He will join the team on Saturday when they train at Meralco Gym in Pasig City.

Currently, Gilas, who are already assured a slot in the World Cup by virtue of being one of the three hosts, are 2-2 in the standings.

For Jordan, he only has one goal in Gilas, “Just win!”

“Let’s get it!”
