MPL: Ch4knu, Raizen power Omega to thrilling win over ECHO

Omega Esports used a thrilling Game Two win to kick-start its come-from-behind 2-1 win against an entirely different ECHO squad, 2-1, in the MPL Philippines Season 10, Saturday at the ICITE Auditorium.

Game Two proved to be a classic as Omega Esports escaped with a 17-14 win after a close encounter with ECHO.

Fighting for the third Lord in the 22nd minute, Dean “Raizen” Sumagui (Thamuz) managed to secure the objective but ECHO got three kills on Duane “Kelra” Pillas (Claude), Raizen, and Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog (Grock) in exchange.

From there, ECHO went for Omega Esports’ base but Renz “Renzio” Cadua (Uranus) and Patrick “E2MAX” Caidic (Faramis), who later on fell, did just enough to take down four ECHO players except for 3Mar.

With the minion waves shoved inside ECHO’s base, Frediemar “3Mar” Serafico escaped Renzio and ran from Omega Esports’ base to defend his own. ECHO’s base was a hit away from going down but the former TNC EXP laner was able to clear all the minions and take down Renzio.

Unfortunately, Ch4knu and Raizen came just in time to finish the game.

“Yung Faramis talaga ano lang, isang beses lang talaga sa isang scrim namin nagamit,” said Omega Esports technical coach Jomie “P4kbet” Abalos. “Alam na nung ibang teams kung paano siya i-counter kaya di na namin ginamit, ‘di namin inexpect na mapipick namin dito pero napaganda naman.”

Omega Esports steamrolled from there, running away with a 14-9 Game Three win in just 17 minutes and 16 seconds to complete the reversal.

Raizen put up six kills and seven assists without a death on Baxia while E2MAX had three kills, three deaths, and eight assists in the decider.

ECHO completely out-drafted Omega Esports in Game One after the latter reacted to the former’s decision to pick Wanwan in the opening phase of the draft.

The SMART-backed squad eventually went for the trio of Esmeralda, Ling, and Phoveus, respectively, to counter out Jhonville “OUTPLAYED” Villar but that backfired on Omega Esports as they lacked the damage to take ECHO head-on.

ECHO ran away with a wire-to-wire 8-1 win in 14 minutes and 18 seconds with 3Mar’s Uranus leading the way. He had two kills and two assists in the contest.

Omega Esports, ECHO, and ONIC PH are currently in a three-way tie for the number two spot with identical 2-1 standings.

Omega Esports will take on TNC tomorrow, Sunday at 8:00 PM. ECHO will also face the same team on Saturday at 8:00 PM.
