MPL: ONIC PH deals Blacklist first loss, gains lead

ONIC PH seized the top spot after Blacklist International its first loss, 2-0, in MPL Philippines Season 10, Friday at the ICITE Auditorium.

The M3 World Championship silver medalists, who are now on a three-game winning streak, moved to the number one spot with a 4-1 standing while the Tier One-backed squad slipped to the second spot, tying Omega Esports with identical 3-1 slates.

“Kay Nets po galing yung shot call na yun. Nakikita ko rin sa mga scrims, ginagawa naman nila. Ano lang din e, since medyo familiar na kami sa mga ganung situations, nakakapagisip kami nang maayos,” said ONIC PH head coach Kevin “Bluffzy” Reyes.

After a jam-packed 16 minutes, ONIC PH and Blacklist International figured in a skirmish down the Lord pit for the third Lord of the contest.

With the tug of war slowly going into Blacklist International’s favor, Kenneth “Nets” Barro (Bruno) moved away from the fight, bought himself Rapid Boots, and went straight to the opposing team’s top lane inhibitor turret for the split push.

Salic “Hadji” Imam (Valentina) and Edward “Edward” Dapadap (Esmeralda) went back to defend their base. Both players managed to take down both the lone siege minion and Nets. Unfortunately, the ONIC PH gold laner was able to throw one last normal attack to finish the game.

Nets finished with five kills, four deaths, and three assists in the 19-14 Game One win in 17 minutes and 30 seconds while Ralph “Rapidoot” Adrales (Atlas) had a team-high 11 assists along with a kill and four deaths.

Game Two featured almost the same picks from both teams. And it also produced a similar result as ONIC PH outlasted Blacklist International in Game Two,

After taking the second Lord of the contest, ONIC PH went for the game-ending siege with Rapidoot (Atlas) delivering a crucial four-man Fatal Links which resulted in two kills.

ONIC PH then went on to seal the win by pouring all its resources to taking down Blacklist International’s base.

Nets once again played stellar, this time on Iritihel, and delivered a game-high nine kills without a death while Rapidoot and SUPER FRINCE (Faramis) combined for 24 assists.

ONIC PH will face the streaking Omega Esports tomorrow, Saturday at 6:00 PM while Blacklist International looks to bounce back against ECHO on Sunday at 8:00 PM.
