Best yet to come for Cignal after two sweeps, says Espejo

Cignal has swept both of its first two matches in the 2022 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference.

But for HD Spikers star Marck Espejo, the difference between their win against the young Santa Rosa City and the veteran Army-Katinko is leaps and bounds.

However, they will not be content even after two impressive sweeps.2022-SPIKERS-TURF-CIGNAL-vs-KATINO-ARMY-TROOPERS-TEAM-SIGNAL Best yet to come for Cignal after two sweeps, says Espejo News Spikers' Turf Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Hindi naman po sa satisfied na pero masaya po ako na malaki ‘yung naging difference ng laro namin from last game,” said the five-time Spikers’ Turf Conference MVP.

“Alam ko po na marami pang maiimprove and marami pang pwedeng matutunan sa journey po na ito,” added Espejo after their 25-15, 25-14, 25-19 win over the Troopers on Saturday at the Paco Arena.

The multi-time import abroad led the HD Spikers against Army-Katinko with 12 points built on eight attacks and four blocks to go with eight receptions.

And the difference between their match against the Lions and the Troopers proved to be their attacking, service, and errors.

After converting just 43.4 percent of their spikes against Santa Rosa, Cignal hiked that number to 56.1 percent against Army-Katinko, going 41-of-73.

The HD Spikers also reduced their errors from 19 to 14, while getting more points from the service line, from two to five.

“Happy lang po ako na sa kaunting panahon, dalawang trainings, ang dami na pong nabago and nakapagadjust po,” added Espejo.

Up next for Cignal will be a tough opponent in VNS-One Alicia, bannered by national team mainstays Ish Polvorosa and Kim Malabunga, on Thursday at 2:30 pm.

“Siguro ang gagawin.”
