MPL: Raizen, Omega dig deep, shock Blacklist in classic

Omega Esports bounced back from a costly boo-boo in Game One and pulled off a stunning reverse sweep of Blacklist International, 2-1, in the second round of MPL Philippines Season 10, Saturday at the ICITE Auditorium.

The SMART-backed squad, who just ended its three-game losing skid, upgraded its card to 5-4 while also tying RSG PH (5-3) with 15 points each.

Blacklist International was on its way to surrendering Game One after Omega Esports notched four crucial kills during the 21st minute that put them in a very great position to end the match.

Unfortunately for Omega Esports, OhMyV33NUS (Faramis) resurrected in time to aid Kiel “OHEB” Soriano (Beatrix) in what could go down as one of the best base defenses in MPL Philippines history.

Figuring in a two-against-five fight against Omega Esports, OHEB got his Immortality removed after Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog (Lolita) landed a perfectly placed Noumenon Blast that caught the last two Blacklist International members.

Renz “Renzio” Cadua (Dyroth) tried to finish the job, dashing into OHEB but OhMyV33NUS, who only had a sliver of health at the time, popped his Cult Altar to keep his gold laner alive who then took down Renzio and Dean “Raizen” Sumagui (Balmond) with his Nibiru’s Passion.

OHEB followed it up with a kill on Kelra before marching with the rest of Blacklist International to complete the heart-stopping comeback.

OhMyV33NUS dropped a game-high 20 assists along with a kill and five deaths while OHEB added 11 kills and five assists against five deaths in the tight 22-23 Game One win which ran for 22 minutes and 14 seconds.

In Game Two, it was Omega Esports who turned an unfortunate situation into a winning one.

Entering the 19th minute, Blacklist International went for Renzio (Dyroth) down the bottom lane but eventually turned their attention to Raizen (Julian). OHEB (Beatrix), OhMyV33NUS (Mathilda) and Edward “Edward” Dapadap (Paquito) managed to slice the Omega Esports jungler’s health but Raizen managed to back down enough for him to buy an Immortality.

Edward continued to chase down Raizen but the latter managed to outplay the Blacklist International contingent by popping his enhanced Sword which allowed Ch4knu (Grock) to knock down OHEB and OhMyV33NUS.

The rest of Omega Esports arrived and took out Edward. Patrick “E2MAX” Caidic (Selena) chased down the Blacklist International skipper to prevent him from defending. Over at Blacklist International’s base, meanwhile, Ch4knu placed his Guardian’s Barrier perfectly to prevent Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario (Akai) from preventing the push.

Kelra topped Omega Esports in the bounceback 16-9 Game Two win with five kills and three assists without death on Wanwan while Raizen had four kills, two deaths, and seven assists in 19 minutes and 33 seconds.

Omega Esports then completed the reverse sweep after a four-man wipe during the 17th minute of Game Three.

The Tier One-backed squad kept the top spot despite the loss, falling to 6-3 with 18 points.

Blacklist International will next face Bren Esports next Saturday at 7:30 PM while Omega Esports looks to snap its skid against ECHO earlier that day at 5:00 PM.
