Tai Bierria looks to showcase versatility with Cignal

STA. ROSA, LAGUNA — Tai Bierria passed her 2022 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference debut with flying colors after spearheading Cignal’s four-set drubbing of the debuting Akari on Saturday night.

The American reinforcement logged 20 big points built on 17 attacks, two kill blocks, and an ace to go along with nine excellent digs in the HD Spikers’ 20-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-16 opening day triumph over the Chargers.

“Full of energy. Full of energy from my teammates, my coaches, the fans, I love the environment and I’m ready to get better,” said Bierria moments after the victory.

While it was definitely a debut to remember for the 25-year-old New Mexico University product, she admitted that her transition to becoming an HD Spiker was not really smooth at first.PVL-2022-Reinforced-Akari-vs.-Cignal-Tai-Bierra-0973-1 Tai Bierria looks to showcase versatility with Cignal News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“So far it’s been great. I think we got off to a rocky start in the first week but that’s expected with a new team,” said Bierria as Cignal also added the likes of Ariane Layug and Joy Dacoron during the offseason.

“But going to this game I really felt confident with this team, really confident with the system, really confident with coach (Shaq delos Santos) so yeah it was good.”

With her first game now in the books, the 6-foot-1 outside hitter vowed to work even harder than ever as she hopes to be the jolt of energy that lifts Cignal past a bronze finish this Reinforced Conference.

“More work. A lot more work to do. I gotta get to the gym and get some more timing. So going into this next game we gotta be better, I gotta be better,” said Bierria.

“Energy. I like to bring a lot of energy to the court. I play almost every single spot. I pass, I block, I serve so expect good things all around but I think energy and just a good vibe for the team. That’s what we really need so that’s what I wanna bring and with time, a bunch of kills and a bunch of points.”
