Ivy Lacsina admits she is still adjusting to F2

F2 Logistics rookie Ivy Lacsina vowed to come back stronger moments after absorbing a loss in her 2022 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced debut on Tuesday.

Lacsina was one of the anchors of the National University squad that scored a historic 16-0 record to sweep the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball tournament. And she got her first taste of defeat this year after the Cargo Movers bowed to Chery Tiggo in three sets, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22, at the PhilSports Arena.

“Mag-adjust din po ako kasi bago po yung mga kasama ko. Give ko lang lang din po yung best ko ulit and hard work talaga. More pa pong focus and dun sa goal mag-focus kami,” Lacsina told reporters after the match.

The 22-year-old middle blocker was actually one of the few bright spots for the short-handed F2 Logistics. She scored seven points in her first-ever professional game.

Missing the game for the Cargo Movers are import Lindsay Stalzer, Tin Tiamzon, and CJ Saga (health and safety protocols); and defensive ace Dawn Macandili (undisclosed injury).

Middle blocker Aby Maraño and outside hitter Ara Galang filled in the libero spots. On the other hand, Majoy Baron and Des Clemente took turns filling the starting spot vacated by Maraño.

Lacsina admitted that the team is still getting used to their new positions. Still, she also remains confident that the team can ease into their temporary roles in no time.

“Masaya naman po siya. Siguro siyempre, naninibago pa po kami, lalo na may positions na bagong punta ngayon like sina Tyang (Aby), Ate Ara. So parang naga-adjust pa po yung team namin pero we’re getting there naman po,” said Lacsina.

“Kahit naman po nag-libero siya, ginuguide nya pa rin po ako. Pero syempre malaking factor din si Tyang pagdating sa opensa po talaga. Pero syempre mas kailangan po siya sa depensa kaya dun po siya nagfo-focus. And gina-guide niya pa rin po kaming mga middles kung anong dapat gawin.”
