After playing out of position in Terrafirma, Adams hopes to settle in Kagawa

Even Roosevelt Adams would admit that he was not able to meet the lofty billing of being a top overall pick in the Philippine Basketball Association during his short stint with Terrafirma.

But for the 6-foot-5 winger, it was because he was not put in a position to shine.

“Unfortunately, I did not show my full potential in the PBA,” said the 28-year-old product of College of Idaho.

“I was playing out of position for the most part, which was kind of hard mentally, physically to go into every game knowing you’re playing out of position, but at the same time, trying to win games.”

Instead of being a pure winger, Johnedel Cardel plugged Adams as a power forward, and at times at the center position.

It resulted in paltry numbers, averaging 10.33 points in the 2020 Philippine Cup before raising his scoring to 11.22 points in the 2021 edition of the tournament.

By January, Adams had had enough.

Seven months later, he was already in Japan, signing with B.League Division II team Kagawa.PBA-Season-45-Magnolia-vs-Terrafirma-Roosevelt-Adams After playing out of position in Terrafirma, Adams hopes to settle in Kagawa Basketball News PBA - philippine sports news

“This is a new start. I’m very excited. I do not want to say revamp – I did not do too badly in the PBA. I’ll just say just a new beginning; start something new. I’m just excited for this new adventure,” he said during his introductory press conference with the Five Arrows.

Indeed, this will be a fresh start for Adams as he looks to help lift the Five Arrows to Division I.

This time, he looks to finally fulfill his potential.

“Just from Day 1, starting with the coaching staff, the system they have put in, the players are very versatile, where we could throw in any team out there and compete at a high level,” said Adams.

“The championship is the goal. Getting a better record is also another goal and that promotion will be special.”
