Troy Rosario laments missed chance to face TNT

Troy Rosario lamented missing the chance to face his former team as he had to sit out Blackwater’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup duel with TNT Saturday.

It would’ve been the first time that the 30-year-old played against the ball club he began his career with and savored his lone championship until that shocking trade last September, but plantar fasciitis derailed the awaited meeting.

“Gusto ko rin sana makalaban ‘yung dati kong team,” he said shortly after witnessing the Bossing bow to a 108-98 result at the Philsports Arena.

Rosario disclosed that he has been experiencing pain in his left foot since their loss to NorthPort last October 12, and it became unbearable during their win over Terrafirma two nights later — even with the aid of painkillers.

“‘Yung game namin ng NorthPort, parang nahatak na e. Tapos nung Terrafirma game puro pain reliever kaya nakatagal ako,” he recalled.

“Mga last two minutes na ata ng game, dun ko na naramdaman, kaya nagpa-sub na ‘ko. Kasi hindi ko na kaya,” the 6-foot-7 forward added.

Rosario, though, finds consolation in the fact that there was no tear whatsoever after believing otherwise during their Dyip encounter.

“Ang alam ko talaga, may punit nung una e,” he said. “Kasi ramdam ko talaga ‘yung last game namin, parang pagtalon ko, pagbagsak ko, parang may napunit e. Pero good thing, nabanat lang, hindi siya napunit.”

Furthermore, Rosario isn’t expected to miss a significant amount of time, and hopes to be back in their next game versus Converge on October 30.

“Hopefully next game makabalik ako, or next, next game,” he said. “Kasi may check-up ako ulit sa Tuesday o Wednesday, tapos magsisimula na ulit ako magpakundisyon. Kasi halos isang linggo na akong walang ginagawa.”

Definitely, Rosario hopes, too, to get a crack against the flagship MVP Group franchise sooner to finally turn that awaited meeting into reality.

The second game of each PBA gameday is live-streamed on SMART Sports.
