Retamar looks to cap NU’s preseason build with V-League crown

For a solid sports program like the National University men’s volleyball, there is always a continued desire to stay on top.

That is why after they won the 2022 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference crown, the team sets its sight on the 2022 V-League Collegiate Challenge.

Ang goal namin this tournament, siyempre mag-champion pa rin,” said captain Joshua Retamar.

In order to do that, though, the national team setter believes they have to work on everything, starting with consistency.V-League-NU-vs.-UST-Obed-Mukaba-8601 Retamar looks to cap NU's preseason build with V-League crown News NU V-League Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Yung pinaghandaan namin ngayong tournament is, more on collegiate teams yung nandito, so iba ‘don sa Spikers’ Turf na Open Conference kasi yung iba do’n mga pro na. So dito alam namin na pag nagpabaya kami, may chance na matalo kami, kasi competitive lahat ng mga teams na nandito,” Retamar admitted.

More than anything, the Bulldogs want to see their chemistry improve as most players are still new. The 21-year-old Laguna native shared, “Pinaghandaan namin dito is more on teamwork and syempre yung skills pa rin namin sa serve.”

More than winning the V-League, though, Retamar and the rest of the NU squad want to prove something and leave something for men’s collegiate volleyball.

“Gusto namin ipakita sa lahat ng collegiate teams na ‘pag nag-champion kami, maganda yung programa namin sa voleyball, sa men’s. So, matutulungan rin namin silang mag-improve,” he ended.
