Santiago-Manabat, Chery Tiggo part ways after six years

Dindin Santiago-Manabat will no longer be part of Chery Tiggo in the upcoming 2023 season of the Premier Volleyball League.

The Crossovers made the shocking announcement on its Facebook page on Thursday night.

Santiago-Manabat, who has been playing for the franchise since 2016, together with her sister Jaja Santiago, played a key role in Chery Tiggo’s historic campaign in the 2021 PVL Open Conference where they nabbed the first-ever professional volleyball title in the Philippines.

She also helped the franchise claim the 2016 Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix title back when the team was still carrying the Foton name.2021-PVL-Open-Creamline-vs.-Chery-Tiggo-Finals-G3-Dindin-Santiago-Manabat-Jaja-Santiago-6681 Santiago-Manabat, Chery Tiggo part ways after six years News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

The 29-year-old opposite hitter eventually suffered a Grade Three right ankle sprain last July which kept her out of the Invitational Conference.

Santiago-Manabat eventually made her return to the Reinforced Conference but only saw limited action. She played a total of 10 games for the Crossovers, most of which coming off the bench, with eventual MVP Mylene Paat taking over the opposite role.

Chery Tiggo, after a back-to-back eighth-place finish in the 2022 Open and Invitational Conferences, finished in fourth place in the season-ending tourney.
