LA Tenorio questionable for Game 6

LA Tenorio is questionable to suit up in Ginebra’s potential PBA Commissioner’s Cup clincher on Wednesday.

Kings head coach Tim Cone disclosed that they have listed the 38-year-old as day-to-day due to an abdominal strain that caused him to miss basically the entire second half of an eventual 101-91 win over Bay Area in Game Five on Sunday.

“LA is day to day with an abdominal strain. He’s questionable for Wednesday,” the champion mentor wrote in a message to Tiebreaker Times.

Tenorio got hurt during the first half yet still tried to play through it in the third, but could no longer bear the pain and was subbed out seconds into the period.

He left with eight points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor, along with three rebounds, an assist, and a steal in 19 minutes and 53 seconds of play.

Tenorio has been averaging 11.4 points on a 30-percent clip from deep and Cone definitely hopes to see him recover in time for Game Six at the SMART Araneta Coliseum, where Ginebra could cop its 15th championship overall.

“He’s so key to what we do, especially in the playoffs. Because he’s our leader, he is our ball-handler, he is our organizer. He’s our big-shot guy.” he said.

“He’s our emotional leader as well. So we’re gonna be missing all those things if he doesn’t get a chance to play,” added the PBA’s winningest coach.

Tenorio’s status has also put in peril his ‘Iron Man’ streak of consecutive games played. Sunday night was his 736th, per league stats chief Fidel Mangonon III.
