Bagunas expresses disappointment about Alinsunurin’s sacking

Bryan Bagunas took to social media to express his disappointment over the recent sacking of former head coach Dante Alinsunurin from the Philippine national men’s volleyball team.

Alinsunurin, who led the team to a historic silver medal finish in the 30th Southeast Asian Games in Manila, announced last Saturday after the PVL All-Filipino Conference press conference that he will no longer call the shots for the national team after the Philippine National Volleyball Federation decided to go on a different route.

“Ooops. Isang malaking bakit?

“Sobrang proud po ako sa’yo coach sa lahat ng pinagdaanan mo as head coach ng national team. Hindi ka sumuko kahit maraming opportunity na dumating sa’yo, ‘di mo kami iniwanan,” Bagunas tweeteed.

The National University men’s volleyball tactician, who recently signed with Choco Mucho, bared that he was repeatedly asked if he can still coach the national team despite his commitments to the Flying Titans and the Bulldogs.

Alinsunurin gave his assurance that he can accommodate all three teams but the federation ultimately decided to replace him.

University of Sto. Tomas men’s volleyball head coach Odjie Mamon will handle the national team in the upcoming 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia before handing the reins to Brazilian coach Sergio Veloso.

“Sayang yung mga plano mo para sa NT. Nakakalungkot pero saludo kami sa’yo!”
