Busy slate for PBA after Govs’ Cup as D-League, Batang PBA, preseason tourney in line

The Philippine Basketball Association will not stop after the 2023 Governors’ Cup which is slated to end late April.

Mid-April, the league will start the D-League season along with bringing back Batang PBA — the league’s corporate grassroots tournament.

After a two-year hiatus, the D-League was brought back last year with eight teams competing. Ecooil-La Salle topped the tournament.

Meanwhile, Batang PBA was last held back in 2019.

According to league commissioner Willie Marcial, they decided to start the D-League early because of the clamor of teams from the UAAP, NCAA, UCBL, and NAASCU.

The pros, on the other hand, will have little break as the 2023 preseason tournament is set to happen from May 15 to July 15.

The 12 member teams will be split into two groups.

Marcial is hoping to bring those games to the provinces.

“Gusto ko mag-out of town games within Luzon lang. Kung puwede mag-out of town sa labas ng Luzon, paguusapan pa namin ng TV5,” said Marcial.

With this schedule, PBA fans will surely still be in for a treat while waiting for the 2023 FIBA World Cup to tip off.

The second game of each PBA gameday is live-streamed on SMART Sports.
