Creamline keeps mum on Alyssa Valdez timetable

Alyssa Valdez remained mum following Creamline’s recent announcement regarding her right knee injury, Saturday.

Before the Cool Smashers hit the court against Chery Tiggo, the Rebisco-backed squad announced that the Creamline skipper underwent a ‘procedure that will help her recover faster and come back stronger.’

When asked about her status for the ongoing All-Filipino Conference, Valdez, who walked out of the Philsports Arena in crutches, respectfully declined to comment.

Cool Smashers head coach Sherwin Meneses did not comment as well during the post-game interview, saying that he has yet to talk to Valdez as of the moment. According to Meneses, the Creamline management will make an announcement once everything is final.

Valdez hurt her right knee during the Cool Smashers’ bronze medal match against Chery Tiggo in the Reinforced Conference last December.

“Siguro yung management na lang ang mag-labas ng statement kasi hindi pa namin sigurado talaga kung ano yung findings, lalo na ako, kasi hindi pa kami nag-kita ulit,” said Meneses just moments after the Cool Smashers’ four-set win over Chery Tiggo.

“Pero maglalabas naman ng statement yung management about Alyssa,” he added.

Meneses instead talked about Valdez’s resiliency and determination to return. The PVL champion coach said that the three-time league MVP has been working really hard on her rehab and lauded her for setting an example during the team’s training sessions.

“Pagdating mo sa training nandoon na siya. Nauna pa siya sa’yo. Araw-araw yun, ma-late ng five minutes sa kanila yun medyo alanganin na. Maaga yun pa lagi kahit yung rehab niya nasa gilid lang so talagang leader,” said Meneses.
