CJ Cabatac set to have surgery

Far Eastern University’s CJ Cabatac will go under the knife on Tuesday after suffering a serious leg injury last Saturday.

The school shared the development on Monday. It also said how the 22-year-old opposite spiker is taking this hit in his young career.

“CJ Cabatac is in high spirits and appreciates all of the well-wishes and support he has been getting after his unfortunate injury,” read the statement.

“He is set to undergo surgery tomorrow. Let’s all pray for the success of the procedure and for his speedy recovery.”

Cabatac sustained the injury in the first set of the Tamaraws and National University match.

He went up to block Bulldog Michaelo Buddin’s push shot and accidentally landed on the latter’s foot, resulting in an apparent bone break.

The UAAP community has come together in support for the Cabatac.

De La Salle University’s Noel Kampton and University of Santo Tomas’ Josh Ybañez were among the players who shared their support on Twitter moments after the unfortunate incident.

“We don’t wanna see other players getting hurt. Get well soon Cabatac. Prayers for you my bro,” said the Green Spiker.

“PLEASE PRAY FOR CJ CABATAC,” tweeted Ybañez.

On Sunday, Cabatac’s teammate Mark Calado also shared a photo with the former in the hospital posing with the iconic Tamaraws hand sign and all smiles.
