MPL PH: Bren takes down NXPE for franchise best win streak

Bren Esports made franchise history on Friday by tallying their ninth consecutive win — their best-ever win run — courtesy of a 2-1 reverse sweep of Nexplay Evos in Week 6 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 11.

They also have a league-best 9-1 card with 24 pts to move just one match win away from securing a playoff spot. Nexplay on the other hand fell to 3-6 with 11pts to sit at sixth in the standings.

Bren assistant coach Vrendon “Vren” Lin admitted getting caught off-guard with NXPE’s surprises especially with putting in veteran Jeniel “YellyHaze” Bata-anon who has not played a single match this season.

“Their performance was really surprising. We didn’t really expect the karina pick from them kaya it caught us off guard,” he said.

“We just pulled out a card from our pockets and it worked,” Vren explained on their Game 2 draft after dropping Game 1.

NXPE caught Bren flatfooted early in Game 1, taking a 5-0 lead on the kill tally after Bien “BoyetDR” Chumacera’s (Karina) triple kill in the 4th minute to quickly establish a 4k gold lead.

The Neon Tigers were in complete control of the match, taking down all but one inhibitor turret by the 11th minute and easily securing the opening win in the 16th minute.

Bren though delivered a perfect Game 2 performance on the back of a debuting Helcurt jungle pick, finishing the match in just 13 minutes while not conceding a single death in a one-sided affair.

Marco “Super Marco” Requitano (Beatrix) took the match MVP honors with a 7-0-2 KDA to lead Bren’s 12-0 lead on the final kill tally.

It was a similar story in Game 3 as Kyle Angelo “KyleTzy” Sayson (Ling) securing early game kills to easily snowball and lead Bren’s reverse sweep victory.
