MPL PH: Bren seals top seed after dominant outing vs Blacklist

Bren Esports is now guaranteed of the top spot heading into the postseason after walloping Blacklist International, 2-0, in the final week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 11 at the Shooting Gallery Studios on Friday.

They now have 31 points, two full games ahead of Echo (24 points) whose maximum points is at 30. Blacklist fell to 8-5 (23 points) and needs to win their last game and hope Echo loses their final two games to have a shot at the upper bracket slot.

During the series, Bren was able to shut down Johnmar “OhMyV33NUS” Villaluna’s signature Estes pick that was limited to paltry 1-5-2 and 0-5-0 KDAs in the two-game series.

Head coach Francis “Duckey” Glindro feels that they have finally decoded Blacklist’s Estes pick and their performance says it all.

“I completely feel na alam na lang namin recently kung papaano talaga [labanan] yung Estes. But definitely, I’d say na alam na lang talaga namin kung paano siya laruin,” he said.

Kyle Angelo “KyleTzy” Sayson once again delivered a monster performance with the fanny pick in the opener, starting off with a 2-0-3 KDA by the 5th minute to lead Bren’s 5-0 kill spread then improved to 4-0-4 after the 7th-minute turtle fight while propelling the M2 world champions to a massive 10-1 lead on the kill tally.

They did not look back and finished off Blacklist in the 13th minute with a dominant 20-3 final kill tally with KyleTzy taking the MVP honors courtesy of a perfect 8-0-7 KDA.

The story was the same in Game 2 with Bren quickly posting an 11-0 lead on the kill tally early in the 6th minute courtesy of KyleTzy (Baxia) and Rowgien Stimpson “Owgwen” Unigo’s (Kaja) similar 3-0-6 KDA.

Bren went on to finish with a shutout win, conquering Blacklist in just 10 minutes with a 17-0 kill lead capped by Marco “Super Marco” Requitano’s (Wanwan) Maniac in the winding moments.
