SEA Games: PWNVT dropped to bronze medal match by Thailand

After a decent showing in the first set, the Philippine women’s national volleyball team fell off as defending champion Thailand took 22-25, 9-25, 12-25, in the semifinals of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games, Saturday at the Olympic Complex Indoor Main Hall.

The Filipinas will take on the loser of the Indonesia-Vietnam semifinals match tomorrow, Sunday at 6:00 p.m. for the bronze medal.

Tots Carlos fired a searing cross-court attack to help the Philippines tie the game at 22-all in the opener.

However, the Thais proved to be too much as they scored three consecutive points to steal the set from the Filipinas, who led by three points early in the match.

Thailand made sure to not make the same mistake twice and went on a blistering 16-3 start in the second set en route to a 2-0 advantage over the Philippines.

The Thais carried their momentum in the third set, leading by as much as 11 points, 21-10, after Pimpichaya Kokram pierced through Filipina blockers.

Thailand never looked back from there as they remained undefeated after five games in the tournament.

Thailand is looking to win its 14th straight and 16th overall SEA Games title.
